Clarity in thought is counterintuitive

By the Time a man finishes something, he is qualified to start it

Truth is not born of popular consensus

The heart cannot rejoice in what the mind rejects as false.

"The beginning of a matter determines its end."

"Form or Function"? Why must we choose? Why not both? I think the most elegant is when the form serves the function
----------------------------------------------
The older we get, the more we return to ourselves
Oh my goodness. I've just been given a life sentence. I must spend the rest of my days as myself. Little chance of Parole!

Much of the Art/Skill of Engineering is in knowing how/why things fail and engineering a solution that will mitigate these failures.

The implementation of most initiatives results in a series of compromises based on the objectives.
Family car. Something economical to drive to work / Something big enough to take the family on trips.
Where to eat, when the participants have different objectives.
Which house to buy. Enough room for daily life / property taxes, utility bills, insurance, mortgage
And so forth...

We never really understand anything; we just become more familiar with things.
On the road to learning about things, we are all on the same journey. Some have gotten further down the road than others, some have stopped to enjoy the view. Some like to turn over every pebble along the way, some like to take every turn and see where it leads. Some like to stay on the main road. But we're all on the same road. I have a suspicion that when we get to the end of the road, we'll find out that the end is/was not as important as the journey.

Is it a rule that 'every rule has an exception'? Is so, than 'every rule has an exception' has an exception and there are some rules that have no exceptions. Personally, i think that if you make a rule that has an exception, you just didn't spend enough time to come up with a decent rule that has no exceptions. Of course, this could be an exception to the rule.
As a corollary, why do we teach our kids what a foul is, in basketball, then tell them to go foul the other team? Does this seem strange to anyone else? Are we subconsciously and inadvertently teaching them to create their own rules and that the rules of society can willfully be bent when it serves their own purposes?

A man never got in trouble (from his wife) for what he did or didn't do.
He got in trouble for what his wife expected him to not do or do.

Sphere of knowledge. Think of what we know as a sphere. (For some of us, it would be a spheroid). Outside this sphere is what we don't know. When the sphere is small, we can look around us and see that there is not all that much that we don't know. The more we learn, the bigger our sphere gets. The more we can see how much we don't know.
I guess this is why my wife tells me, "Honey, you're so smart; you're stupid."

If you have a tool, you'll use it.
this is a far-reaching statement, and deserves a considerable amount of development. I think i'll develop the thought on a different page and put a link here.
----------------------------------------------
If you aim at nothing; you'll hit it.
If you're going nowhere, any road will do.
----------------------------------------------
If you think you can, or if you think you can't; you're right.
----------------------------------------------
We are all wrong about something.

When a man gets behind the wheel of a car, he becomes himself.
There is no such thing as "Road Rage." There is only latent rage. For some reason, the car is a great 'acid test' to see who a person really is. It seems as though all the societal masks and layers dissolve and the person can be seen as he truly is. If a father wants to know more about his future son-in-law, all he has to do is say "Hey, let's go for a ride in your car." The father will know what kind of person he is in but a few moments.

The fact that we can think of something is good proof that it exists. The fact that we can think of a Supreme being, is proof that one exists. If it can exist as a thought, there is something to it.

Why does Eric use lower case "i's"?
I don't feel like i am important enough to upper-case myself, unless i am at the beginning of a sentence. To my knowledge, there is no other language where the first person personal pronoun is always upper-cased. I think we should start a lower case i revolution. What do u think?
